Even Madder than Hell at the Media...

And Why I Do Macs

I was Mad as Hell at the Media in July, 1999, because they so obviously and so hypocritically refused to uphold and dig out the truth of things in their dogged attempt to prop up this evil Clinton administration while covering up his crimes, which probably include such as the murder of Vince Foster--and, it may be, thousands of Canadians when he allowed Arkansas prisons to taint inmate blood, then sell the bad blood overseas and in Canada, only to discover that many Canadians are now infected with HIV. This story is not new and you can read The Blood Trail, Parts 1 and 2 at CBN On-line.

Well, the media continued even more avidly to cover up the crimes and spout the lies of the power elites as truth, whether by merely shoving the "official spokesperson" line down our throats or more seriously by doing whatever is necessary to cover up the truth to the point of firing honest journalists or bribing the more humanly corrupt into silence or, if they are really lucky, into Council of Foreign Relations membership. For what else could drive CFR member Ted Koppel into blurting the televised lie that:

"...the credibility of the FBI, which probably did tell the truth about most of what happened, that credibility is badly damaged, while the credibility of conspiracy theorists, who tend to be wrong about most of what they've spun together about Waco, their credibility is newly enhanced. It is on these two fronts that the greatest damage has been done."(see Alexander Cockburn's article Waco and the Press. Considering that Counterpunch is a leftist organ, Cockburn's article proves once again that not all leftists are bad guys--it's only the power elite apologists on the left who are.)

And now, after the shameful Klintonista backing of the murderous, drug dealing KLA against Yugoslavia--that is, the Serbs--a nation that has always had control over Kosovo until the mid-twentieth century when "ethnic" Albanians flooded there--and parroting the commie or corrupt/Mafia run Albanian govt. line that Kosovo has always been Albanian--and now, that ethnic cleansing is taking place in East Timor Clinton is doing everything except cheer over the Indonesian slaughter of the East Timor natives. As Lew Rockwell of the Von Mises Institute put it so well on Give Neutrality a Chance:

"It makes an interesting study to discern why the US weighed in on behalf of Moslem Kosovars but is telling the Christian East Timorese to go jump in the Pacific. In the 1960s, in the midst of the Cold War, the US gave the supposedly anti-communist Indonesian dictatorship the green light to massacre its Chinese merchant class. Indonesia and the US became blood brothers in a relationship that survives to this day.

In 1975, Jakarta invaded and suppressed East Timor under the supervision and approval of US President Ford and Henry Kissinger, both in the capital city the day it began. Despite the reports of tens and even hundreds of thousands of deaths (up to a third of the population), and relentless oppression, the US has been funneling foreign aid and weapons of mass destruction to the regime ever since. Only now, responding to world outrage, has the Clinton administration temporarily suspended formal military ties.

During the war on Serbia, every establishment organ from the New York Times to the Wall Street Journal echoed the Clinton line that the US was bombing for ³humanitarian² reasons. Clinton enlisted moral metaphors from the civil rights movement to say that the poor Kosovar Albanians were suffering under discrimination on grounds of their religion and ethnicity.

But in his press conference on East Timor, Clinton could muster no moral indignation. There was no talk about the human rights of the Timorese and the bloody campaign‹complete with concentration camps‹being conducted against them. Why not? Is the Clinton administration committed to a policy of siding against any Christians in any foreign policy decision? That would explain why he backed both Jakarta and the KLA. Or we might also consider that the Clinton administration has benefitted directly from massive campaign contributions from government- connected Indonesian business interests.

More likely, the bottom line is that this particular oil-rich rogue state is a client of the US, and therefore is permitted to engage in all the ethnic cleansing and genocide it desires. Hey, international politics is a rough business. But then let¹s hear no more about the ³humanitarian² impulses behind the US wars. The bottom line is that the US will kill people when its interests are at stake, and let them be killed when they are not."

Finally, going back to the Cockburn article:

"Koppel was scarcely alone. Here's a CBS broadcast of September 2: "For years now the disaster near Waco has been exhibit number one for many who have deep distrust of the American government. From conspiracy sites on the Internet to documentary films, Waco has provided a focus for those who see the government as the enemy. And now they say there is proof the government has been lying, reports CBS News Correspondent John Blackstone. 'This is just fodder for the conspiracy theorists,' says psychologist Margaret Singer. She says this is just what the militia movement needs to say we told you so.... Many are certain to see this as government out of control. 'The anti-government movement, the militia, hate groups are absolutely going to get a boost out of this and I think it's really a tragedy for that reason,' said Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center. At one time conspiracy theorists may have been viewed as eccentrics far out on the fringe, but then Timothy McVeigh drove a truck full of explosives to Oklahoma City and we all discovered just how dangerous it can be when people stop trusting the government."

Remember: the fact that an establishment rube is quoting (and they always do!) the infamous "hatemeister" Mark Potok of the lie-loving SPLC is a flag that the Clintonista media is grasping at straws--the fact is also, that no thinking person takes the Dees do-dos seriously anymore, they are so steeped in hate-mongering themselves.

And then there is the shameless Rupert Murdoch, who, as reported in the London Telegraph, has sided with Red China against hapless Tibet, in its article Murdoch Launches Self-serving Attack on the Dalai Lama. According to that article:

RUPERT MURDOCH, the chairman of News Corporation, was condemned by human rights activists and Tibetans yesterday after criticising the Dalai Lama and condoning the Chinese occupation of Tibet.

Mr Murdoch, who hopes to expand his business interests in China, said of the leader of Tibetan Buddhism: "I have heard cynics who say he's a very political old monk shuffling around in Gucci shoes."

Mr Murdoch, 68, who recently married a 31-year-old Chinese woman, Wendi Deng, also excuses China's disregard for human rights on the ground that the average Chinese person cares more about "his next bowl of rice" than democracy.(Oh, is that why they protested in Tienammin Square?--Ed.)

Mr Murdoch expresses his support for China's forced occupation of Tibet by asking whether Tibet's own culture was ever worth preserving: "It was a pretty terrible old autocratic society out of the Middle Ages. Maybe I'm falling for their propaganda," he says of the Chinese government, "but it was an authoritarian, medieval society without any basic services."

In his ambition to expand his Star satellite television business in China, Mr Murdoch has already been accused of placing his commercial interests above freedom of speech. In 1994, he dropped the BBC from Star after it was critical of Chinese leaders and of the Tiananmen Square killings. Last year, he ordered his publishing company HarperCollins to abandon publication of Chris Patten's recollections of his time as Governor of Hong Kong because they too were critical of the Chinese government.

Bad enough our press has to suck up to American power elites. But when they have to suck up to Commie China's!? Will we see soon how much Murdoch loves Beijing's invasion of Taiwan? Boy, that really oughta make Murdoch want to party! Because, after all, isn't Taiwan just an "authoritarian" society where one "cars more about his next bowl of rice" than democracy?

But here's the rub: the establishment media has almost always been this way in the US as elsewhere! The fact that the media covers-up power elite crimes and won't tell the truth is not something that has just begun happening in the Clinton years (only it seems that way because the Clinton Administration is so evil). The Big Media has been this way at least since 1953, which is when John Swinton made that famous speech in front of the New York Press Club:

'There is no such thing, at this date of the world's history, as an independent press. You know it and I know it. There is not one of you who dares to write your honest opinions, and if you did, you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid weekly for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for similar things, and any of you who would be so foolish as to write your honest opinions would be out on the streets looking for another job. If I allowed my honest opinions to appear in one issue of my paper, before twenty-four hours my occupation would be gone. The business of the journalist is to destroy the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of mammon [money], and to sell his country for his daily bread. You know it and I know it and what folly is this toasting an independent press. We are the tools and vassals of the rich men behind the scenes. We are the jumping jacks, they pull the strings and we dance. Our talents, our possibilities and our lives are all the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes.' " Shillum, 1996.

You said it! And as long as the Big Media continues to lie and cover up, OmegaZine! will continue to rant about it.

And why I use Macs?

More than likely you've never wondered why this ezine is done on a Macintosh. But I'll tell you anyway.

Macs are easier to use, more friendly and is easily learned, than PCs. However, I was intending to give the Mac to the kids and buy a cheap refurbished PC for myself because--well, everybody has 'em and there is oodles of software for them.

But I won't. Not before y2K and not after either. Seems Bill Gates (and the thought of paying this misanthrop royalties for the rest of my life hacked me off anyway) has put a little deal into his Windows software whereby one's PC becomes instantly accessable to the G-men at the National Security Agency, whether one is on the 'net or not. Scary! But Wired Magazine: Microsoft NSA has reported that this is exactly what Gates has done, and Microsoft is "vehemently denying it":

"Microsoft is vehemently denying allegations by a leading cryptographer that its Windows platform contains a backdoor designed to give a US intelligence agency access to personal computers.

Andrew Fernandes, chief scientist for security software company Cryptonym in Mississauga, Ontario, claimed on his Web site Friday that the National Security Agency may have access to the core security of most major Windows operating systems.

"By adding the NSA's key, they have made it easier -- not easy, but easier -- for the NSA to install security components on your computer without your authorization or approval," Fernandes said.

But Microsoft denied that the NSA has anything to do with the key.

"The key is a Microsoft key -- it is not shared with any party including the NSA," said Windows NT security product manager Scott Culp. "We don't leave backdoors in any products."

Culp said the key was added to signify that it had passed NSA encryption standards.

Fernandes also simultaneously released a program on his site that will disable the key.

The key exists in all recent versions of the Windows operating systems, including Windows 95, 98, 2000, and NT.

The issue centers around two keys that ship with all copies of Windows. The keys grant an outside party the access it needs to install security components without user authorization.

The first key is used by Microsoft to sign its own security service modules. Until late Thursday, the identity and holder of the second key had remained a mystery.

In previous versions of Windows, Fernandes said Microsoft had disguised the holder of the second key by removing identifying symbols. But while reverse-engineering Windows NT Service Pack 5, Fernandes discovered that Microsoft left the identifying information intact.

He discovered that the second secret key is labeled "_NSAKEY."

Fernandes and many other security experts take that to stand for the National Security Agency -- the nation's most powerful intelligence agency."

Okay, pooh-pooh it. Then again, on top of allegations that Microsoft's Hotmail site was hacked into several times last week...which is on top of complaints that Intel's Pentium III processor has a chip that allows the govt. to invade your PCs privacy...Of course, not all Windows machines have this, but I look at it this way: NO MAC OS MACHINES HAVE IT!

Well, now you know why I do Macs.
